I couldn't recommend Naperville because of the commute to HE alone.

Real estate taxes here are in the 2%-2.5% of the worth of the home.

I have to second the vote on Lombard. Good schools that feed into the Glenbard system. Shopping, dining, recreation and a fairly-priced housing market. Traveling up 355 into Hoffman Estates wouldn't be that bad.

I am quoting a message I wrote earlier, so forgve me for doing so. It's just that I have loved Elgin all my life. Elgin has many positives going for it. Have you seen the new $22M library in the downtown area? Have you seen the state of the art Recreation 'Centre' with the 3 indoor pools? Have you attended any concerts or plays at the Hemmens Auditorium? Have you toured the new Police Facility? Have you walked on Walton Island in the middle of the Fox River and looked at the botanicals around town? Have you noiced the easy access to Metra on the west side and downtown? Not to mention 3 accesses to the I90 Tollway. All 3 train stations are easy access with lots of parking. Have you ever gone on the Grand Victoria River Boat and dropped a few dollars into a slot machine? Have you enjoyed any of the fine ethnic or American restaurants? Have you noticed the new construction underway of the state of the art Sherman Hospital? Did you know Elgin has not one, but two full service state of the art hospitals? Have you seen the little league ball fields on the north end oftown, the south end of town and the large sports complex on the west side of town? Have you walked in the Trout Park Botanical gardens? Have you had out of town guests stay at any of the 10 plus motels? Have your kids or grandkids played in any of the neighborhood parks? How about the golf courses we have in Elgin, and we can't forget the Lord's park and the Wing Park facilities, both with outdoor pools. Have you noticed the improvements to the downtown area? Have you noticed the stately homes in Elgin? Just about any type of architecture you can imagine is here in Elgin. Have you seen the expansion of the Randall Road corridor with shopping from discount retailers to upscale retailers?. Am I a fan of Elgin, You bet! There is more to offer here than a lot of the other suburbs. And here's the biggie- Elgin is only about 15 minutes by car to Hoffman Estates! If you want more information contact me here or via my alternate email: cocoasdad2@ameritech.net I will be happy to send you links to the local newspaper, city hall and anything else you deisre to know. Thanks, Toolman
