I'm 57 years old. I remember the mid 70's quite well. And I find people are disbelieving when I tell them about it. It was just one road about 1/3 mile long with straight in parking on both sides. At the end of the road was a small lake. Pulling in during the heyday the parking lot would be mostly full with people standing by their cars with signs stating what drugs they were selling. ANY kind of drug could be found. Literally. ANY kind. People would hide their drugs in the woods and go get them when you bought. The reason for that sort of security is because a mere 200 yards away with a direct view of the park was the POLICE station. It was not uncommon to see a police car drive through the park and randomly pull over a car and search it. I saw this happen quite often and prayed every time that it would not be me. I probably visited the park at least 50 times. Then one day in the late 70's I went to Wampum Lake and it was completely empty. The party just went away and never came back. Those were the days. Good thing I live in Colorado now.

I remember that. If you drove through slowly with your window down they would shout what they were selling, like a carnival barker. Car after car lined up in the parking lots with hippies standing outside the car, selling drugs in clear view to everyone that drove by, in the middle of the day.

Does anyone remember what date the Wampum Festival was in May or June 2016?
