Hiruko is correct. Numerous storefronts in downtown Lake Forest were boarded up. There was a protest in downtown Lake Forest. A few days before the protest in Lake Forest there were protests in Naperville which then turned into looting. Peaceful protests turning into looting is a pattern seen across the nation. As such, if you have a large protest then it is reasonable to prepare for looting. This is 2020.

Unless you take the fear out of bullies, they will continue to bully. I fear Civil War 2. But then again, it seems inevitable. May the best team win. I train everyday!!

Any advice is appreciated!!

Hi, congrats on your new job! Check out Lake Forest & Lake Bluff. Both towns are nice places to live, and located between Chicago & Milwaukee. They both have quaint downtown areas, nice neighborhoods, fun community activities/events, good schools, parks, beaches, bike trails and nearby forest preserves.

We live in Lake Forest. My hubby used to commute to Chicago, and now is working in Milwaukee. The drive north is not too bad. Lake Forest has two train stations on different lines heading to Chicago, including some express options. Lake Bluff has one train station. It would be worth checking the commute time options to Chicago before deciding, allowing for drive time to the station and walking to the office in the city.

You should move to libertyville, highland park, lake forest, lake bluff, high wood
Libertyville is far north and affordable compared to lake forest but lake forest is still really nice and libertyville has a metro stop and next to the expressway.

I'm a huge Libertyville fan! I take people from Milwaukee (and even people in Illinois who've never been) to get to it. Everyone I've ever taken ends up loving the town!

The OP didn't say in their original post whether they had kids (or are planning to), but to me, that would be an important component. If so, I'd opt to live very close to one spouse's job (probably the one that is most subject to discipline for absences or being late, LOL), and let the other spouse have the long commute, hopefully by train. That way, the kids (or dogs) will be without adult supervision for less hours of the day. It's also more doable if you have one car that is less than reliable, that car could be used to do the short commute or to the train station. And in extremely inclement weather, only one spouse would have to miss work, not both.

Having a 90 mile commute isn't ideal, but if it's on the train, at least you won't have the stress of driving, and you may even be able to nap or prep for work. I worked with several guys who commuted from Racine to Chicago for several years, they pitched in on a van and carpooled. Again, not ideal, but doable.
