Pros: Great people, great restaurants, great schools, very diverse, beautiful homes, lots of parks, really good garage sales and a good farmers market.
Cons: Taxes and parking
It is a wonderful town, I grew up here and wish I could afford to live here and raise my children here but it's a bit too expensive for me. Good luck

Default Midwest weather

Hello! I grew up not too far from Oak Park. The weather there is just like the weather all over the Chicago area -- if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will probably change!!! Seriously, it is a four-season climate. The winters don't seem to be quite as bad as they were, say, 50 years ago; this is probably a result of global warming. Oak Park is probably a bit less damp than a lakefront neighborhood, which is a plus. It is a beautiful town with beautiful tree-lined streets and a variety of housing options. One of the previous posters mentioned that property is expensive -- this is true.
