I'm moving to Wilmette in June, and I'm interested in getting some private speech therapy for my 5-year-old son this summer. Does anyone have a recommendation?

If you have residency info you can get screening prior to starting school in most circumstances. Not sure about the specifics, but you might want to start calling ahead of time. Even if you plan on doing things at your own cost it might be wise to coordinate with those who are more familiar with how these things are handled. This might be a good start: http://nssed.k12.il.us/Pages/staff/staffinfo%5Cbluebook.pdf (broken link)

Northwestern offers private services that are quite good but also quite expensive.

Default Thanks!

Thank you both for your help. Chet, my son is already receiving speech therapy through the school district in our current town, but he didn't qualify for summer sessions. I just think it might help him to get a little extra help over the summer so that when he starts kindergarten in the fall, his teacher and classmates will have an easier time understanding him.

That's a shame that you will have to find speach therapy on your own when your child qualifies for services during the year. I don't know what community you are in now, but I do suggest you contact the Childcare Network of Evanston to discuss your situation. you can find CNE's website on line. They are a very nice bunch who are very familiar with early childhood services. They are very good.
