Arrow Round Lake to Deerfield Commute

Hello,
My fiance and I just moved to Round Lake and are having problems with the morning commute. He works in Deerfield around Deerfield Rd and Waukegan Rd. The most direct route is taking 60/83 to 45, but that moves at a crawling pace. Does anyone have quicker commute tips they'd like to share? I heard Gilmore rd is not too bad.. Thanks to all!

While there are some options to use the various road that go N/S west of Libertville or east, I don't think there are any "secret routes" -- the total trip is going to be dependant on traffic that all has to go through the various stoplights and RR crossings that tend to choke down traffic. Psychologically I found driving along the more country type roads was less maddening, but sometimes the speed limit is lower and the police DO enforce the "cut through traffic" to the within one or two MPH of the posted limited, so you have to be sure to watch your speed.

Maybe taking 120 to 45 might be better...I dunno traffic is bad anywhere during rush hour here, it depends on what part of RL you are coming from, if you can get to gilmer easily then gilmer isn't too bad

You did not mention anything about his work schedule, but Metra is a possibility, if his schedule permits. The train from the Round Lake station on Rte. 134 is the same train that stops in Deerfield, and the Deerfield station is on Deerfield Road, two blocks west of Waukegan road.

(I commuted from Round Lake to Chicago on Metra--much better than driving.)
