Default How do I get from Deerfield, IL to Downtown Chicago?

Hi,
My name is Katy. I am staying at a hotel located at 340 S. Waukegan Rd. in Deerfield, IL. I need to know how to get to a restaurant called Von's Thai Kitchen located at 6 West Hubbard Street in Downtown Chicago. I also need to know how to get back and when I should leave. Any schedules, times, or fares will be very helpful. I have never used the bus or train system here before. If anyone can respond in the next hour I would be so appreciative of your help! Thank you so much!

Default transitchicago.com

go to transitchicago.com and use the trip planner there.

also, have you talked to the hotel conceriege? they can advise you of what train you will need to take into the city. You will need to take the Metra into the city, and get to the Metra station (if they have one in Deerfield, Not sure about it).

I hope you left a lot of time to get to the restaurant, as you will need to allow at least an hour to get from where you are to the city by train, if not more.

Does the Metra go straight to downtown Chicago? If it does where does it stop?

Luckily your hotel is very close to the "Lake Cook" commuter rail station. This station is part of the "Milwaukee District North" line which terminates at Union Station in downtown Chicago. Metra / Milwaukee District North Line Information

From Union Station its probably half a mile to 6 W. Hubbard and cabs are plentiful.

For Metra, you purchase your ticket on the train, unless there is a ticket booth (with an attendent) at you station. I've never taken the Milwaukee District North line so I don't know if Lake Cook has an attendent. One-way is $4.30 and should take about 50 minutes to get into Chicago.

Check the Metra link for all the relevant info.

If you don't purchase at an open ticket booth there is a $2 surcharge, so it worth finding out if the station is open.

It is actually closer to 1.5 miles, following the city grid. This is not a bad walk in good weather and most healthy people could do this in about 20-30 minutes. A cab would be faster, probably about 10 minutes, but it won't be cheaper -- essentially doubling the cost of your trip. from:Canal St, Between Adams and Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60606 (Chicago Union Station) to:41.881352,-87.627554 to:6 W Hubbard St Chicago, IL 60610 - Google Maps
Vongs Thai Kitchen at 6 W Hubbard from Unions Station, Canal at Adams...
