Default New Job in Darien

I have accepted a job in the Darien area. I am looking for a 2-3 BR house to rent, but looking for something around $800/m. Have 2 school age children. What are some good areas? Would like to stay within an hour distance.

It's going to be hard to find a home. I looked in the Downers Reporter today and saw a townhome for immediated rental that they were offering a discount from 875 to 800/month for a quick move-in. The ad read in part "2 bedrooms with a bonus room/office, private entrance, newly remodeled, washer & dryer in unit" The phone number it listed was (630)378-5000. I hope this helps you.

Default Neighborhood

So I am not getting my hopes up too high, but after looking around the area, it sort of comes down to what is the Darien area like. Is it a safe area, are the schools any good? Thanks

The Darien area is nice. The kids go to one of two high schools, both good, and they run their own elementary and jr high schools. Darien is just south of Clarendon Hills & Westmont, West of south Hinsdale and east of Downers Grove. It doesn't have a town center but is working on that. My kids play soccer & ice skate at the Darien Sportsplex. They have a wonderful new library and lots of parks. The homes range from 250K to $1million for the exclusive Darien Club subdivision with the vast majority of homes selling between 350K & 450K. It has a few apartment, condo & townhome complexes. It is actually one of the more affordable suburbs compared to its close neighbors. Darien is located right off of the Stevenson expressway (I-55) so you could live further out and commute 30-40 minutes if you couldn't afford to live there or in any of the immediately surrounding areas (the add I saw in the paper was for the town right next to Darien - Downers Grove, or at least that's what it said).
