Long grove/Kildeer Park districts
Hi,
We have almost narrowed down on our home search and wanted to get some info about the park district in Long grove/Kildeer area.
Does Kildeer have one or do they share with Long grove or do they have to pay an out of residence fee ?
And does anyone have any info about Herons crossing subdivision or glenstone ?

There are currently three homes for sale in Herrons Landing, ranging in price between $779-899. Both communities are attractive to move up buyers and inbound relocations families.
Heron's Crossing homes typically sit on half-acre +/- lots while those in Glenstone are on 1-2 acres.
Both are HOA's. Glenstone has a lot of common property and ponds and the HOA dues are significantly greater than Heron's Landing. Some homes have excellent water views. Glenstone has been involved in litigation with IDOT relative to changing traffic patterns. Reading the HOA minutes is a must do.
When most people express interest in parks, they really mean facilities, pools, tennis, activities and so on as opposed to open spaces. If this is where your head is at, neither Long Grove or Kildeer have such facilities. Many join the private Farmindale Pool/tennis club for recreation and social activities or use facilities in adjoining communities at a non-resident rate.

Thanks !
I greatly appreciate your response. Looks like compared to Barrington, Kildeer does not have a park recreation district of its own. We liked houses in Barrington too and am also looking at that possibility. My priority is schools then other things.

We have enjoyed Barringtons park district and the year round kids programs for many years. Great pool scene too.

Most of my friends in Kildeer use either the Lake Zurich or Barrington park districts which are both great.
Also, if you are considering Kildeer, be aware that some areas feed into the Stevenson H.S. while others feed into Lake Zurich H.S. Stevenson is known as being one of the top H.S. in the state and, therefore, property values may be higher in this district.

Lake Zurich HS is a great school but not as prestigious as Stevenson. Some people, however, complain that Stevenson is too large and over competitive.
Regarding park districts, often the "out of district" incremental rate is less than what you would be forced to pay for the park district in your property taxes if you were in-district. Being out of district you'd have more choices (could go to programs in Lake Zurich, Barrington and/or the YMCA- even Palatine or Buffalo Grove depending on where you end up).
Long Grove and Kildeer are both nice areas. Look at Deer Park too; homes there feed into either Barrington or Lake Zurich schools and they have a great walking trail (Cuba Marsh) which connects to Barrington's Citizen's park and library.

Lots of people in those areas use the Buffalo Grove Park Districts. Tons of activities and camps for children.
