Refade,
I found this thread two hours ago and I read every word. It brought back so many memories. You not only painted a picture of a warm and loving family, you invited everyone on the post into your heart and into your life. You are such a wonderful writer!
I have a five generation picture with my grandmother holding my grandson! It made me think of your mother and how lucky she is. I was wondering now she is doing and if she enjoys Brody as much as you and pappa? It sounds like Courtney and Brian are doing well. I hope they find an apartment nearby. It's good that Courtney is still in school and still wants to be a cosmetologist. My daughter did that too. Reading your story is almost like reading my own - even to the gall bladder.
I wish you and your family well. I hope you continue to post as Brody grows. Soon he will be trying to walk and talk. Just thinking of It reminds me of a song from "Fiddler On The Roof" that began,."Is this the little boy I carried? When did he grow to be so tall?.....".
Blessings....

Thank you Linicx:
My mom is doing better, since she's been visiting an Adult Day Care near by a few days a week, she seems stronger and in better spirits. She loves to watch the baby and smiles whenever she sees him. Brody's personality is already emerging and he glows when he sees certain people - especially my husband.
Sounds like you've had a similiar experience. It's interesting to me how many have - It makes me realize I'm never alone in this. THanks for the post, I'll keep you updated.

Wow, in reading this thread it brought back such memories. I was 17 when I had my son. He is 21 now and just graduated college with a bachelors. It was an adventure for sure and really made me grow up. I missed a lot but would not have it any other way. Refade, you impressed me. You handled it much better than my mom did. We are still somewhat strained. Just encourage your daughter and help her when you can. She will do fine with a mom like you.

Hello Everybody:
Brody will soon be 9 months old. He is doing so well. He's crawling, and pulling himself up on furniture. Courtney bought him a walker at a garage sale and he's been moving like the wind in it. He's always so happy and usually only cries when he is hungry, tired or wet. Courtney and Brian are still together and Courtney is working hard to finish school. Brian work two jobs and goes to school full time. I couldn't have asked for a more resposible father for my grandson. He recently moved into his own appartment ( No_ Courtney did not move with him. ) They share nights with Brody and I get to have him all to myself 3 days a week for a few hours too. It's heaven being a grandma!
My mom is still leaving with us and although her health is good she suffers pretty bad from dementia.
All in All though, life is good. Thanks again for reading this thread, I find it comforting to learn that others have had such an experience and have LIVED to tell their stories. It's life and there's nothing sweeter than a new little baby to share it with.

OMG! He's got two teeth, is crawling and I swear he said, "Happy Birthday" to his papa yesterday! He says "HI" or "Hey" and "Bye" and waves. And he says "Mama" and "Dada" too. My middle daughter didn't talk until she was two! Time goes by so quickly - make sure you try to enjoy every bit of it! Truly life is too short!
