Red face Relocating to Lake Forest

My husband is considering a position at a company in Lake Forest. Where would be the best city to start house hunting?

Depends on how much you want to spend. We can start there.

The housing market is much higher than St Louis! We were hoping to find something in the $250-$300K range

Oooooooo ... that's a no go in Lake Forest. Wow, Lake Forest is old old Chicago money. In your price range, try Gurnee, Grayslake, Lindenhurst, Lake Villa ... Park City.

thanks. Is Gurnee too far of a commute to Lake Forest? How are the public schools?

Gurnee isn't a bad commute to LF...probably 30 minutes. If you live in Antioch which is on the NW side of Lake County (recommended to me as my wife just took a job in Lake Forest so we've been looking around too) or SE Wisconsin, then you're looking at 40 minutes plus (depending on traffic).

Who knows where we'll end up. It depends on my future job I guess. I want to work anywhere in between Lake Forest and Milwaukee so then we can live in the Northern part of Lake County or the Southern part of Kenosha County (WI).
