Don't do it.
This guy called my old band too.
He has a lot of big promises, this "dave soto"
I did a lot of searching for answers myself, as i've been in bands before who got fake deals.
here are some things that made me decide against talking with this guy:
1. If you google maps the address for the "record label" you'll find it's a rural street, nothing more than yards of weeds.
2. They first claimed to have ties with Second City acting, which is the troope out of Chicago that most SNL cast come from, do your homework. I called second city and asked them if they had any record label or anything like that, they said no, nor do they plan on it. Another thing that worried me was that they thought i was the same guy that called earlier about it, not good. "dave" made claims it was just some theater in chicago that wasn't affiliated with "The Second City" No such things exists, if it's a theater in chicago, it's the second city.
3. The record label page now re-directs to "The Second City" which tells me they got sick of these guys using their name for a fraudulant company.
Here's the deal, real record labels that interested in your music will not ask you to pay 1000 up front, espically the kind of labels that have the things "Dave" promises you.
I'm sure he told you as he told my band, but promised things such as world wide tours, busses all pimped out that you'll tour on.
I asked dave to show proof, get us on a local (to us) radio station, if they had such clout. Never heard from him again.
If they ahd that much money to throw around, and were really that interestd in you, you wouldn't have to pay 1k down.
It's a sham.
