I was wrong for moving out here looking for an affordable townhome. I was wrong for enjoying the nature I can see out my window. I am still wrong obviously for trying to defend a city I spent most of my life in.
I have witnessed the white flight from day one. I remember being quite young and watching as whites hurried to pack up and go, and I know there was no other reason besides the "rising" black population.
Our HOA assessments have not gone up significantly, the children are polite, our cars are never touched, and the birds, squirrels, and deer ( ) love hanging out around my house!
I just don't understand how someone can expect a business district to be thriving when people leave in droves like that. Yes, the homes are aging, and yes, this isn't the most exciting town to live in, but it has potential. I guess no one sees that or cares. Maybe I'll start looking for another home soon.

I don't think you have to move. CCH is a nice middle class black suburb and actually gained population during 2000-2007. Like other black middle class suburbs such as South Holland, Matteson, University Park, and Richton Park surrounding it, its not what I call ghetto at all.
A south suburban resident as myself know more about this area than most people on here.

It's good that finally someone understands me here. I love where I live, and I will not pound people over the head with it.
It's simply going to be too bad that someone thinks that this suburb (and the surrounding areas) are ghetto.

CCH is 81% black and the median income is around $66,000. What do HC stand for? Not that good with abbreviations.

I look more at who is moving in than who currently lives there. Is there more of a racial balance in the recent arrivals, particular among young families, or is the 81 heading to 100 fast??
I'm one of those who prefers a racially and somewhat socio-economically mixed area, and even moreso the types of people who also prefer such an area. Not sure why but life gets boring fast when everyone else is a boring middle class white dude like myself.
