I know this is kinda random, but I was just thinking about how Matteson has changed (or at least that's what I see from other posters) and I was thinking about Lincoln Mall.
Does anyone remember Lincoln Mall in its heyday? I remember hating to go all the way out to Orland Square, and I loved the Plaza too!

The reason why it failed is because the nearby malls- River Oaks, Orland Plaza- all received updates and made Lincoln look old and outdated. Then JCPenny and Wards close their Lincoln store and that was that.

It seems to me that if there is any riff raff anywhere near the general vicinity nothing is better than a mall at finding it. Orland Square while infinitely better than your typical south side dump is hardly the Magic Kingdom itself. I won't comment on THe Plaza. Chicago Ridge can be iffy. THe thing is the vast majority of people who leave near all three of these places don't look very much like the vast majority of who I see hanging out there.

LOL but growing up, I had many memories of the place! I know it's a tragedy now, but hey, what can we do? Throw all the thugs out the place? If the mall was torn down, there would be bloody hell about the jobs lost. I do think that the mall is what brings down Evergreen Park's reputation...
I remember jazz music on the weekends, and Disney and Sesame Street characters...or wait, no one of those was at Lincoln Mall...but anyway, it was nice then...

No, but I will. The difference is you expect it on 115th and Halsted. The area near the Plaza though is pretty nice.

They are certainly not growing on me. And what dimwit gave them a reputation point?
