I think we all know which suburbs have the worst rep, it's usually based on crime. A better thread would be suburbs that don't deserve bad a rep.

True. Many suburbs of Chicago don't deserve it, but get it because of their makeup.

I wish you and other minorities stop professing this desire to have whites to come into our/ your neighborhoods to make them better. I get so annoyed when I hear AA people say that "this neighborhood is good, White people live here," like that is supposed to mean anything. I have been reading your post and growing frustrated on how you project this strong desire for Whites to come to CCH. It's ok if they don't want to come I think AA are doing just fine there with it being 81% or whatever % black. And for the record I grew up in CCH, lived on Sarah Lane by the police station, and currently live in Chicago and both areas have been majority AA and I for one enjoyed it and PREFERRED it. CCH was and still is a good neighborhood regardless if there are whites there or not... I speak for me (and I’m black) and a large number of African Americans by saying WE don’t need WHITES in our neighborhoods to make them BETTER…

It's less about wanting whites here, more about diversity.
Yes, I do have a Chinese neighbor, an Indian man living down the street, and a Pakistani nearby as well. I would like to see more, that's all.

If residents in the Beverly, Evergreen, etc. area contacted the stores they would like to see in their neighborhoods and let those stores know how much residents would love to have them in their area, the stores will likely respond to those requests - but doing nothing will result in nothing

You can but most regional and national chains are highly cognizant of all areas and markets in major urban areas, and use demographic models to determine where they will and will not go. So communities that feel they lack in retail are usually better off focusing on other things (e.g. lower crime, better schools) that will attract more affluent residents into their community first. In other words, Harvey can call Starbucks all day long and it ain't gonna matter.
