Cool! Now I'll be able to make a lot more posts if I don't have to back up my opinions with facts and experiences.

I have spent extensive time in both Maywood and Melrose Park. Maywood is more challenged but Melrose Park is not all that nice. Winston Plaza sums up Melrose Park pretty well. Low-end working class and on the decline.

Meijer has been stalling their project in that shopping center for the past year and I am not sure when they look to open. That shopping center is anchored by BestBuy, Ballys and soon-to-be Meijer. IHOP, Pizza Hut, Chinese (beautifual jade and marble in bathrooms - unbelievable - worth checking out), Dunkin Donuts, Eye Store, Secretary of State, Dollar Store, and several other low-end clothing stores like Dress Barn. Again, not ghetto but definitely low-end working class on the decline.

Maywood has some really bad parts south of the tracks. Around Chicago avenue, it is actually solid working-class near the border with Melrose Park with larger, older homes, most of which are well-maintained.

I would have to say Robbins or Ford Heights. Both of those cities are very improvished and are one of the few suburbs that live up to their 'bad' reputations.

"Improvished?" Does that mean they have Second City, Improv Olympics and Annoyance Theater? Sounds like fun!

I think Naperville is viewed as the richy rich suburb. I also think Bolingbrook because everyone thinks its such a ghetto community when in fact its not.

Really? I was always under the impression that people viewed Naperville as a yuppie suburb. When I think of "richy-rich" I think of North Shore burbs.

Probably as far as poor burb and one that is totally corrupt it would have to be Ford Heights- Considering the police dept does not even have a presence any more and they have to rely on cook county for patrols

Park City to the way north in lake county too minus the lack of police

Bolingbrook and Wheeling might have the most unwarranted reputations, as both are pretty nice towns that just happen to be kind of surrounded by wealthier towns.

I consider most Naperville resentment to be complete hogwash. It has a higher profile because it has been cited on lists of "Best Town to live in" in magazines, etc., and people naturally start to resent it. But, while it is wealthy, it is not nearly as wealthy as the North Shore from Evanston to Lake Bluff- but somehow those people that resent Naperville give the North Shore a free pass, I don't get it.

Joliet is a hole - it's motto is "if it's fun, it's downtown!" And what do you see downtown? A prison, a casino, crappy old buildings, and a petro-chemical plant and a few factories.
