Default Fun thread: What suburbs would be your top choice?

Let's assume that your finances, or your commute, if you have a job, would not prevent you from living in any suburb or, for that matter, any area of the city. Excluding where you currently live, put your top five suburbs and/or areas of the city of Chicago, in order of where you would most like to live. Feel free to just list your choices or add the reasoning behind them!

Lake Forest, beautiful architecture, great schools, lots of trees.
Barrington Hills, Lots of land, nice people, great schools, horses
Gold Coast, would love to move back if my kids were grown.

Sorry, I can only think of three.

1. Winnetka - specifically within walking distance to downtown or Hubbard Woods or with property on the Lake. Closer to city than I am now, seems very family oriented, good schools.

2. Hinsdale - within walking distance to downtown. Like the feel of the community and have friends there. Good schools.

3. Chicago - a completely renovated old single family home north of Gold Coast that is within short walking distance to Lake, in neighborhood with lots of kids and close to public transportation.

4. Beverly - renovated old home between 99th and 103rd, east of Western Avenue on street with lots of kids. Friendly people, beautiful old homes and tree lined streets.

5. Too many tied for 5th... Glen Ellyn, La Grange, Oak Park, Lake Forest, Glencoe...

2. A home in hills of Campton Hills.

3. A home near downtown Wheaton.

4. A home near downtown Hinsdale.

5. An old, stately mansion along the lake in Evanston.

I would live where I live in Glencoe. I love where I live, but I have thought about living in NW Winnetka, the Winnetka Ravines, and I absolutely love Lake Shore Boulevard in Evanston along with Edgemere Court and Sheridan Place. Evanston has a lot of hidden gems that if you just drove through you wouldn't notice.

I'm not familiar with Campton Hills. Where is it located?

Wow, it does look nice. How much do homes go for around there? Is it primarily new or old?
