Buckner Fan is on a distinguished road
I took the route from Arlington Heights to Central Street Evanston today leaving at 4:30. I got to Central/Prarie in 35 minutes (not bad for that time of day). I think the key is when starting to head east on Central from Crawford, getting over to side streets parallel of Central (just south) as soon as possible. I think one of these streets is Harrison. Not only does it avoid the congestion on Central, but gives spectacular views of amazing tree canopy along Harrison. On a day like today, it was really beautiful!
