Naperville is its own entity. Naperville doesn't have to rely on another town to stand on its own. Naperville stands out in the western suburbs...there isn't another western suburb that stands out as much as Naperville other than Oak Brook (NOT Hinsdale.) For me Naperville is as good as it gets in western suburban living in Chicago.

This has to be the most outrageous statement that I have ever heard in my life. Congrats! I don't even know where to begin to be honest. There are so many things wrong with this my head is racing.
Let's start first with your thoughts about how Hinsdale runs into every other "near" western town. OK, I'll give you that. But that goes for just about everything in Chicagoland, so if that bothers you, than you must be really unhappy with every city up there. While we are on that subject though, I am dying to know how you find Naperville to be un"distinguishable" from any of its neighbors. LOL!!!! Hmmmm.....? Plainfield is just the simple extension of the ugly sprawled out mess in S. Naper, that has now, or is in the process of consuming all of Romeoville, Shoreword, Bolingbrook, and Oswego. Heck, the line of tract homes and strip malls now stretches all the way down to Joliet. Indeed, I have always found that area to be very rewarding in terms of uniqueness. I'm sure everyone would take that before a crappy street in horrid Hinsdale.

What was I thinking?!
I would love to know what you find, besides a boundary sign, that seperates this entire area. I can't think of one thing!
Then we move to Naper's western boundarty where dumpy Aurora sits in all of it's absolute stunning glory. Again, what is this grand seperation that you see? Because I lived up there for ten years and never once saw any distinction other than the fact that Aurora's far eastern housing was nicer than Naper's. To the north and east Naper is landlocked by boring Warrenville, and Lisle, which take the word un-unique to a whole new level. So what is your point?
"Naperville doesn't have to rely on another town to stand on its own."
Are you serious???!!! If not for Aurora and Joliet in close proximity, and the "Illinois Technology Corridor" that does not sit entirely within the city of Naperville, not to mention CHICAGO!!!!!, Naperville would be nothing. Even if you took Naperville by itself (acknowledging that it could support itself), it would be a very boring city overall. It is totally dependent on the others around it for its success. Heck, most people in Naper go to Aurora and Bolingbrook to shop!!!! Why? Gee, I don't know. Maybe it is because little downtown Naper just can't compete with far eastern Aurora, which you know, is only about, ONE OF THE BIGGEST AREAS TO SHOP IN THE MIDWEST!!!
"For me Naperville is as good as it gets in western suburban living in Chicago."

Well I am trully sorry for you and yours. Wow..........
