What is Chicago's Prettiest Suburb? (Naperville, Evanston: house, suburbs, architect)

I'm just curious to see what responses come up here. You may think its the landscape, homes, natural features, downtown area etc. Basically - no wrong responses - just a casual conversation about beautiful Chicago suburbs...Enjoy!

I love some areas for their magnificent homes and architecture like Glencoe, Winnetka, Hinsdale, Wheaton, Lake Forest, Oak Park and Burr Ridge. In terms of natural features, I love Long Grove, Lincolnshire, Riverwoods and the ravine areas around Winnetka.

Park Ridge, great uptown, plenty of parks trees etc. There is a lot of uptown development bringing in new stores. I would like everyone to stop before they post about some other town and just give in to the truth that Park Ridge is the best.

I actually like a lot of suburbs so I don't have a favorite.

I just returned for a visit to Park Ridge having moved away this past December and have to agree that the uptown development has really changed the face of the city. Between that and all the new plantings, the downtown area is looking really nice. I still don't think it's the prettiest suburb, though. Not sure which one I would pick. There are so many nice ones.

This is virtually impossible to answer seeing that there are several dozen suburbs that I think are beautiful.... Id rank Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale and Geneva real high.

I agree Steve-O. Chicago has no shortage of pretty suburbs. I agree that Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale and Geneva are among the prettiest western burbs. I also think Wheaton is pretty, but I haven't been there in years. I'll add Kenilworth, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Winnetka, Highland Park and Glencoe (particularly the eastern part of these communities) to the list. I also like parts of River Forest, but again, I haven't been there in ten years.

I've lived in both Oak Park and Evanston, and I like them as well, but I don't believe they are as pretty as some of the others mentioned.

Its as beautiful as ever!

I forgot to add Barrington, thats nice looking, too. St. Charles, for the most part, is very upkept as well.

There is so much beauty in Naperville, Geneva and St. Charles. I personally do my morning walk in downtown Naperville and stop at the Starbucks and just relax in the fresh air. Being in Naperville makes bad days seem lovely. Even when it rains out going to Rosebud Steakhouse brightens up my day.

Glencoe and Highland Park seem to make the most of their lake front, pretty much all the other lakeshore towns leave far less to the average passerby...
