Default Where To Move On the North Shore

Hi everyone,

I am moving to the Chicago and would like to live somewhere around Evanston in terms of area. I would prefer to live closer to Lake Michigan than not. I will be renting for a bit until I decide on a home. I am looking for the place that has the best transportation options, best shopping, and best all around feel. As someone looking to buy, I am also interested in the area with the "best of the worst" taxes. Money is not an issue in terms of location selection.

If money isn't the issue, then anywhere along the north shore; Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, is beautiful and you will get just what you asked for in taxes!

I think because you are into transportation options and shopping Evanston, Wilmette, or Highland Park suit you best. Evanston and Wilmette have fantastic transportation options and beautiful public lakefronts. Highland Park is much further from the city, but has a great downtown and some nice amenities. Evanston has the highest taxes of all the North Shore communties and I believe the second highest in the state behind Oak Park. Oh! one good thing about Highland Park is that the sales tax is much lower than Glencoe southward, because Highland Park northward is Lake County and Glencoe southward is Cook County and Cook has really really high sales tax.
