Question Elgin - Schaumburg area public transit ?s

I may be moving/working to or in, I guess you could call it east/NE Elgin. I'm married and we only have one car.

So I'm wondering about bus routes, not so much trains, kind of like a Elgin vs. Schaumburg thing. Does Sburg have buses to shopping and also to places potential employment?

I believe I saw buses in Elgin when I was there, are they reliable? Convenient?

What if I move to say, Hoffman Estates, East Dundee, etc... Is there such a thing as a bus from there to Schaumburg or east/NE Elgin area?

Does that make any sense whatsoever? Thanks

This will be tough. Buses in Elgin run pretty much only in Elgin, and up north to shopping in Dundee and Carpentersville, and there is one route then runs south to Geneva, with connecting service to Aurora. Buses run Monday thru Saturday only. There is almost no regular bus service in Schaumburg. There are a few buses from points east that run to the Woodfield mall area. There are also a few rush hour only buses to get people to the train stations. Finally, there is one route, rush hour only, between Elgin and Schaumburg. So you could, possibly, get to work in Schaumburg during weekday rush hours. It would be easier to just stay in Elgin. You can get around pretty conveniently 6 days a week. I don't know what kind of work you are looking for, but if it is retail or restaurant related, there are plenty of opportunities in Elgin, Dundee, and Carpentersville, all of which have decent bus service.
