Default Good and bad sides of Orland Park?

I am hearing that Orland Park is a very good town as far as schools, parks, shopping, etc. Is there a good side and not so good side or is the entire town o.k.?

I like trees and the newer part of Orland Park lacks them, bad traffic, and isn't very diverse....but schools are pretty good. Plenty of shopping and restaurants-- you should never go bored.

The whole town is basically all middle to upper class so no there really aren't any parts that are "bad areas/poor areas" As for the town being not diverse... Some view that as a good thing, some view it as bad. Its whatever your preference is I suppose, but, no, it is not diverse at all, its like 96% white. The town's major downfall is its garbage @SS roads and tons of traffic.

It's plusses are without a doubt the town's recreational facilities and athletics. Sportsplex is a state of the art gym with indoor soccer field, three basket ball courts, rock climbing, gymnastics, aerobics classes, day care, Shake Shack, track, every kind of free weight and machine you need, and about every piece of cardio equiptment you can imagine and its all managed by the city. The city also offers a ton of sporting activities/teams for youngsters to join. The town's pool is no ordinary city pool. Its more like a mini Magic Waters in Rockford. http://www.orland-park.il.us/index.asp?NID=115 The town is also filled with little bike/running paths that are rapidly being linked together and eventually will allow you to be able to ride your bike all through the town. I know the path behind my house goes as far as Park Forest and up to Worth and then down to Centenial Park, so needless to say, you can defenitly keep yourself in tip top shape in the town. Must be why there are so many people living in the town that are in incredible shape and the teen boys are in similar shape to professional athletes by the time they're 16. Don't believe me? Go to Sportsplex at about 430 pm on a Tuesday afternoon.

Orland Park is ridiculously congested. There is a traffic light at every intersection. If you combine Orland Park with Tinley Park (Orland's neighbor) their populations reach over 150,000 people. Orland Park is growing ridiculously as is its' southern neighbors like Frankfort. I wouldn't advise anyone to move to either of those two towns unless you are fine with seeing big box retailers as far as the eye can see and as long as you are OK with having a 5 mile trip take 15 minutes. I'd avoid both areas to be honest. But if your main focus is school and family then both would be wise choices. Just realize that those areas are growing at alarming rates and the urban influence is steadily spreading their way...

For example, developers have a field day building thousands of new houses but they don't do anything for the roads. And since the Orland Park/Frankfort areas are Republican, the Democratic leaders in Illinois don't find improving the roads in those respected towns as a top priority. I'm talking about major routes such as Lincoln Highway. I realize Rt. 30 does not run through Orland Park but it runs through New Lenox, Mokena, and Frankfort which contributes to a large % of the congestion in Orland Park since Orland is home to a very popular mall called Orland Square. there are plans to build a mall bigger than Gurnee Mills in New Lenox which will only add to the congestion of the area. There's a reason as to why Will County is the 9th fastest growing county...in the UNITED STATES! just be prepared for it, that is all.
