Default Information on Calumet Park?

My fiance and I are considering purchasing a home in Calumet Park. We are an interracial couple looking for an affordable starter home in the south suburbs. Does anyone have input regarding overall quality of life and safety in Calumet Park? Thanks!

Well, it's affordable. Other the other hand, there are regular shootings and other violent crime, and the schools are barely functioning and solvent, along with other village services. How would you define affordable? There are likely better options available. You can get a small condo in Oak Lawn for the price of a single family home in Cal Park and enjoy an immensely better quality of life.

I have to agree. Why not look into South Holland? There are tons of interracial couples and the crime rate is much, much lower than in Calumet Park. The schools aren't "top notch", but they are improving. It's not as affordable as Calumet Park, but with the number of foreclosures you should be able to get a good deal.
