Homes in Joliet-which zip codes to avoid?
Hi All,
We're contemplating a move to Joliet and are searching for real estate. Does anyone know which zip codes we should avoid--such as those with higher crime, poorer quality schools, etc.?
Here are Joliet zip codes I found online:
60431
60432
60433
60434
60435
60436
Thanks a bunch!

Joliet covers a large area, is diverse, and its school regions include Joliet, Lockport, and Plainfield ... zip codes are best used to identify where mail will be delivered.
You can find out school information by city on http://greatschools.com.

I live in a city about the same size as Joliet and can tell just by looking at the zip codes which homes for sale are in higher-crime areas and which are not. I had hoped that Joliet may be the same. It would make my search that much easier.
I am also using some of the larger real estate websites...you can search by zip, but not by desirable school district, although I guess I can research the school districts and then copy down zip codes...was just looking for an easier, quick way to get a general idea of the area and home prices, and was hoping that some of the lower priced homes I've seen were in safer areas. Thanks for the link. I will check that out.

If You Have Access To Newspapers, Usually Your Local Library Can Provide It, Research Joliet Harold Newspaper. You Will Be Surprised What You Learn About Local Neighborhood. My Recomendation If You Are Looking For Specific Schools Needs Try Near By Communities, Such As Plainfield, New Lenox, Lockport

sexual predators on file
There are also ways to search for where registered sexual predators live. I'm sure that's very important also.
Did you see where I posted about the water in DeKalb, you should see the tank outside their horse slaughterhouse, it's foaming over with some disgusting stuff and they have been discharging way over the legal limits and the DeKalb Sanitary District has fined them but in the last 2 years they have been discharging way too much and still not shut down. Gross. This stuff is hazardous waste and going back into the water supply. Anyone who gets their water from that source, those tributaries or is effected by the ground water should be concerned. Horses have a lot of chemicals and drugs in their system, some can not be broken down or filtered out and at least one of them cause miscarriages if consumed by pregnant women even in small doses.

Ma'am:
I taught in the Lincoln-Way High School District for almost all of my career. L-W Central's test scores ranked in the upper 5% of all schools in Illinois for the last year.
The flagship campus is in New Lenox, my town of residence. New Lenox is a superb, conservative suburb east of Joliet by only 7 or 8 miles but light-years away in socio-economic ways. The town has a crime rate far below that of Joliet and other towns to the north and west. Even so, I-80 can take you to or past Joliet in a mere matter of minutes.
New Lenox has grown from 5,000 in the early 80's to 21,846 now. We have all the amenities of a larger town WITHOUT all the negative aspects. My wife and I raised our three children here (all graduated from L-W). I'm retired now but plan to live in this fine town for as long as I can figure.
Should you decide to move here, WELCOME!

You know, I recently just built a house in Joliet, south of I-80 and we love it! The school systems are good here, great prices, and from what I hear there's even a new highschool being built in the 60433 zip code. I know we're going to make a lot of money on this place over the next few years.
