To all the "race is a social construct" types and human biodiversity deniers:

Here's how it works:

1) Celebrating and promoting "Diversity" and unique human and cultural attributes is for non-Whites to do, always and anywhere and ad infinitum.

2) Whites are not to do this. Ever. Whites are told to melt into the great melting pot. Any unique attributes of White people and their culture are mere "social constructs" and are said to be intrinsically "racist", evil and are not to be celebrated under any circumstances.

They tell Whites: "we are all the same DNA". They tell Blacks to celebrate diversity. I know Jewish people who would never tell their children they are the same as all others. It's even written in their scripture they are different. Go tell them they are a "social construct" only. Nobody would dare, it's only an ideology aimed at Whites. That's my take on it, and as each year goes by, there is more and more DNA information to expose the race deniers (aka anti-White racists, yet simultaneously pro-"minority" ).

Mr. Meeks falls into this category. He would deny differences but at the same time promotes them? It makes no logical sense outside of the construct outlined above.

Education starts at home.

Chicago Public schools already receive more funding than 80% of the schools in Illinois. The solution to a problem isn't throw more money at it and see what sticks. The problem is the parents!

Chicago Public School students get $10,400 compared to a mere $9,000 for Naperville students, yet Naperville doesn't have 50% drop out rates and horrible test scores. There is no proof that more money = better test results.

The problem has been and will continue to be...the parent(s)!

By the way...who is responsible for paying for the $4.50 per gallon fuel for all of those buses?

Who paid for all of those orange t-shirts?

who paid for all of those pens, clipboards, forms, etc?

That's not the whole story. That's the PC, unacademic and unintellectual explanation. Because if you look at Naperville or better yet Oak Park-RF HS, it does have "diversity", and yet the gap still exists there within that closed micro-system.

The children of black college professors do not do as well as the children of their non-black peers. This has been proven in studies.

Then, smart alec name caller, what is the real answer? are you prepared to go there? because i don't think you have the courage to do so.

Another part of this problem is the corruption and cronyism throughout the Chicago public school system structure. Where is all this money going? they get over $10k per student! I'm sure they're lining their pockets. Not to mention teachers who mail in the work day get paid as much as teachers who actually want to try hard.

and the problem is parents. if you got to parent teacher conference night in the city, the teacher waits in an empty room as nobody comes opposed to the suburbs where 90-95% of the students' parents show up. It's about involvement and committment from those parents. However, many parents on the south and west sides don't have those skills in them for whatever reasons. They don't work hard to get their kids a good education. Most of them live off of the government and then expect the best schools...what's next, the government handing out bentleys or 50" tv's because those who bust their tails working hard for a living, so their kids can get the very best, have one?

I don't know if the lack of home equity has anything to do with school attandance rates. There are plenty of fine people of many different races who have raised successful children while having very little in the way of material goods.

School attendance is the key factor in students success. Other important factors, adequate sleep, a good breakfast before school, a decent lunch and dinner, studying after school, and parental expectations. None of these things are out of reach for anyone.

Throwing more money at a school that already receives more than Naperville or Barrington won't change anything.

Like I said already, peer groups have a large influence, as measured in Freakonomics. If your friends don't take school seriously or think it's "uncool" or "acting white" to do well in school, it will have as big of an effect on your academic performance as your family situation. Culture is a large influence on human behavior.

I can't believe you're still trying to hint that blacks are genetically inferior to whites, but you're afraid to come out with it. Since this is the definition of racisim, I'm also surprised the moderators haven't banned you yet.
