It's slightly west of 95th, which is aurora. You'll notice down 59 in the fox valley area most the businesses and houses west of 59 are aurora address, east are naperville. They just clip in the unincorporated aurora area.

If you want Aurora I'd choose something in the 204 school district or the Oswego school district. Most of Aurora is very safe.

I live in Aurora, on the east side and it is NOT a bad area, no matter where you go there will be crime, Aurora is a safe place to raise a family and there are great school districts as well.

stay away from downtown and the east side. theyr gang filled with lots of crime. 85% of downtown is also hispanic, if you wouldnt mind. west side is nicer than those parts, but still wouldnt be a top choice, considering there are still several project areas. i know someone who use to teach in jefferson middle school. (right next to west high) he said its just somewere u wouldnt want to be. he says its full of crime and bad kids. the parts of aurora you would want are the far east (fox valley mall) that area falls under a naperville school district for the most part, district 204. which has lots of very rich naperville areas, and lots of pretty descent aurora. i do beleive it goes to waubonsie valley high wich isnt bad

East side has most of the older frame houses and a lot of rentals. They are cracking down on landlords that don't screen their tenants or who have tenants who cause problems, so now is a great time to buy, while people still think it is bad and the prices are low, crime has been dropping a lot in the past few years...if you don't mind an older frame house, you can get a decent for under $100,000

Most of Aurora is very safe. My husband and I moved to Aurora several months ago. I was concerned when we first started looking because I had only heard bad things about Aurora, but as we drove around and explored the different areas, I saw that there were plenty of decent neighborhoods.

We decided to stick to the west side due to schools, as the near east side schools (i.e. Dist. 131) are pretty dismal. We also looked in the far east side district (204), but didn't like the neighborhoods as well as the ones we saw on the west side.

You should be able to find a suitable house in a safe neighborhood for 170 (depending on what size you're looking for), but be aware that you may run into a lot of "short sales". We tried to go that route and ended up withdrawing our offer because the owner was jerking us around.

Aurora is getting closer to 200,000 people, so it depends which neighborhood. From word of mouth, my cousin who lives in the 630 area, the near Eastside is the worst part of town where the Hispanic gangs are at. It was worse back in the early 90s to early 2000s.I been to Aurora and the westside is better and so is the far eastside is nice too. Overall, Aurora is not that bad, below nation average actually. In 2008, the city had a murder rate of a low 1.7(2 murders) per 100,000 compare to 2002 rate of 17.5(25 murders). 1.7 rate for a city over 170,000 residents is not bad.

Default Aurora info

You can try Pigeon Hill, or the Farnsworth/Indian Trail Road areas. 170 will get you a good condo or duplex. There are a lot of free-standing places in my area in E Aurora S of downtown, that will sell for that price. I live through it just fine. The Alderman here is excellent!
