Well you could take the Elgin O'hare expressway....

Oh wait. It doesn't go from Elgin to O'hare

Give yourself an hour at least in both situations (rush hour and normal traffic).

I also think it depends on WHERE you are starting from.

Elgin up by I90 or out near Route 20.

If you are near 31 or 25 at I90 ... going in to OHare would not be that long, no traffic, which rarely happens for the entire route.

My guestimate would be roughly 30-45 min, again - depending on your starting location.

Rush Hour -- I wouldn't even want to think about that!!
a good hour maybe.... maybe longer.

Hopefully someone with personal experience on this drive will pop in ....

I tend to avoid traffic, and avoid O'Hare too, even though i live nearby.

If you're taking a taxi from O'Hare, I would recommend American Taxi. There's another one too that seems to specialize in the N and W suburbs (has 40 in the name?). Other taxis may be focused on the city of Chicago, and charge extra to go out to the suburbs (and at least in my case, needed directions from me to find the destination). You can get a taxi or a limo thru the same service typically I think.

I use a great affordable limo company. The company is called VJ Limousine. Google them, or PM me.

Van Gulder (Coach USA) runs a bus to O'Hare from Elgin (I-90 and Randall Rd.) nearly hourly all day, which is significantly cheaper than parking for days at the airport.
