The complaints of Blacks about "racism" in the USA are refuted by, say, for instance, the Koreans. They moved here without even speaking our language!

I'm not aware that Koreans benefit from racist preferences and quotas either.

Interesting. I'd rather focus on this part of your post, not the (cough, cough, booga, booga!) "KKK" propaganda which is the usual thing anti-White people try to bring up as a general slur. Anyway, it is well known that in West Africa most of the people who SOLD black slaves were black themselves.

There is a great poem in African-american folklore:
Quote:
The Black Slave Trader

There was once a black slave trader who was the terror of the Guinea Coast. In one year's time he could deliver more captives than all his competitors put together. His raiders struck far inland, bringing one coffle [slave caravan] after another to the coast. One day he received a parcel of Africans for delivery to a Yankee ship that was about to sail for America. He supervised the delivery in person.

When the unfortunate prisoners had all been brought on board ship, the slave trader joined the capitain in his cabin, to seal the transaction over a glass of rum. The rum was drugged.

The next thing he knew, the slaver was lying shackled in the hold of the ship alongside the captives. Like them, he was branded on the chest.

Don't is on a distinguished road
Dear Readers and to the person moving from the. U.K.;

First and foremost, it is about informing this person of the realities of America and especially, Chicago. I wrote my experience of Chicago and those of us born and raised in Chicago know the truth about Chicago. We know the division that separated us and it takes open minded people to learn different cultures and respect them. My experiences were unfortunate in America and being a Black American, too. You see, now that I am in the U.K. it is different and as arrogant and forceful as America is, there are a lot of Europeans who don't like Americans Black or White, PERIOD. There will always be people in denial (the Nile) and I proved my point as a fortunate Black American. The stereotypes about us are true for instance we all steal, are on drugs, depreciate property values, etc..it's o.k, it's America either you love it or hate it. For example, there are several nationalities that open businesses in the Black Chicago Community but wouldn't live among us in Chicago. First, I am a Human of the Human race..God knows if there was another planet with less hatred, I would be there. But as Earthlings, these are the breaks. We must educate each other and stop the hate. Everything I stated in my prior post are true as a Chicagoan. When you have lived in a country (not heard or read about) and have to adjust to new customs and traditions, it's like being a fish without water. It would be great if Daley Jr did more for the South Side of Chicago other than get the votes because our side of town has never been recognize .. like the north side. The inner South side doesn't even have a Whole food store, etc. You see in spite of, Chicago did prepare me for the world with survival skills, therefore; I can eat the meat and spit out the bones. What the world see of we Black Americans and White Americans too/ is foolishness and believe everything the "Tele" tells us. We read, but don't experience. One thing I am glad about is that both my parents' were medical doctors and there is only one real color in America...Cash/Green!! And the best way to get it is legally. Do you know those stereotype programs like Judge J, Maury etc all assume we "Silly Americans" are all the same. I was blessed to be a Black Child in Chicago who never was in jail, no babies, never on drugs, had positive choices and exposure, completed school, kept my credit and driving record clean, furthered my education and skills, purchased property( and experienced racism during real estate closings/purchasing from 1992 to 2007) it's amazing that I am not on some special medications. We Black Generation X er's were the promised generation, hell we were born after the riots and civil rights era something that our parents' fought for, we created "Clean and Respectful Rap Music (nothing like today) and our generation started to mingle, MTV first came out socialize even date (something that Black/White baby Boomers didn't do (that has alowed Gnereation Y the privileges of today), we were "Cosby Children" and most of us received an unfair shake and especially when Uncle Sammie threw that crack in our faces/communities (but it was a matter of choice to use or not to use) Some people resorted because of the pressure and disappointments and not being give a fair chance as a Black Chicagoan. We need to inform this person of the differences and what to expect. This person didn't say they want to live in the suburbs, they said, CHICAGO. I have noticed CHICAGOANS get along better in different cities and are proud, however; the underminding tactics are still the same in Chicago. And being a BLACK Person from Chicago/America, there will always be some of my own race of people in denial and will become combative. You see, I didn't have to throw a basketball, football and swing a bat, get a scholarship to make a difference or a statement (although nothing is wrong with that either), but it is usually the stereotype. I recently came back home/Chicago, I checked my attitude prior as well as my disposition and there it was, again. I have been dressed in certain attire( practically every has fur in Chicago due to the climate and the Fur Capitols of the world are Chicago, Paris France, Milan Itlay and Moscow Russia and called a drug dealer, etc. or moved and someone says redflag...Hell, I worked for the Human Rights Commission in D.C. and you better believe, it's alive and well and expecially, in Chicago. Remember, this person said they want to live "In Chicago." They need to know that Little Rich Daley, Jr. imposed a sales/transfer of deed bill stating that the seller of a property now has to pay so much per hundred dollars to sell their home in Chicago.. what if this person wanted to sell or upsize or downsize...crazy, the taxes are higher than New York, the cost of living doesn't increase in Chicago rapidly and coattail riding like that Todd Stroger (as usual, all in the family in Chicago). America will always be America and Chicago willl always be Chicago and change is only going to happen in Chicago when people step out of.. the comfort zone... Hell the USA for that matter. I will always live a life with no regrets and I hope others will do the same, be open minded, don't stereotype, help other communities, etc. I can't change America in 40 years of life but I can Change me and make my life more fullfilled and the person who wants to move to Chicago may or maynot be into interracial dating (something that is STRONG in Europe..Always has been, but not America/taboo). They need to know the pros and cons, no health care, the violence, etc. But for the most part, most of US..USA citizens are decent...rather friendly, too. This will be my last and final post...as usual some will probably become curt and coy and take this out of content. Anyways, to the person want to Live in Chi-town, do it but be prepared and live the experience because if you want..you might say shoulda/Coulda...Hell Live anywhere you want, I have loved living in Europe and Asia...EXPERIENCE ...can't buy it. Many Blessings to you.

Yes slavery is practiced all around the world. However chattel slavery is quite different from what some tribes Africans practiced. In Africa a slave could change his station and become free and marry into the very tribe that was its captors.Just because Africans are black does not mean that they all practiced the same ways of culture ,religion or language.Different tribes routinely would war with each other, their prisoners would become slaves, those slaves were then sold as they were a "spoils of war".It should also be noted that they were considered HUMAN and Equal by their African captors NOT PROPERTY or a SUBHUMAN creature as the American culture claimed to support is argument to continue slavery. You also conveniently leave out the fact that after, by far the majority of the slaves WERE taken by force as it was cheaper not to deal with the"middle man" after a while.

Koreans or any other group(for the most part) other than the Native Americans and blacks have not been systematically discriminated against as an innate part of this countries growth to become what is today.JIm Crow did more damage than slavery could ever had done.If you look at blacks decendants of the slave trade in England ,there is marked difference between the lesser problems they face than what blacks face here in the USA today.Yet how quick to note how people believe its just slaverey that was the problem.

Let me further break it down for you since you say you are an intellectual. When slavery in America ended, black people rejoiced and many threw themselves to be educated,to become property owners, entrepreneurs and even politicians.Georgia,South Carolina,Lousianna,North Carolina,Mississippi all either had MANY state representatives, state senators, and even Governors well throughout Reconstruction in the 1870's.The term 40 acres and a mule was promise by fild order by General Sherman. After Licoln was shot it was actually partially implemented before he died.
Quote:
By June 1865, around 10,000 freed slaves were settled on 400,000 acres (1,600 km˛) in Georgia and South Carolina."Soon after, President Johnson reversed the order and returned the land to its white former own
ers.The KKK was came about as a result of the success of blacks at such a fast rate.Thee kkk memebers wanted to scrare people back into thier places. They did that by lyinching. What other minority had to deal with that in America?Scars run deep, for some are stronger because of it,but also for some people just cannot make it through, these are human traits in us all.Every sizeable minority in the past done wrong by The USA has gotten something from that accept African Americans. Before you write me off as a "complainig black person"lets just deal in facts.

1)
Quote:
In 1988, Congress passed and President Ronald Reagan signed legislation which apologized for the internment on behalf of the U.S. government. The legislation stated that government actions were based on "race prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political leadership".[10] About $1.6 billion in reparations were later disbursed by the U.S. government to surviving internees and their heirs.
2)Native Americans have been compensated and recieved millions of dollars including land.Odlly enough this is why i do not believe or supprt reparations for blacks,Not because we do not deserve it but throwing money at the problem will not teach those blacks noyt used to much how to develop,or grow their new found wealth. It would be squanderd mostly by those who really need it and taken over by the already educated upper class blacks to enrich themselves more than what will trickle down to the poorest minorities.

These things represent in TODAYS terms of America to stop acting as though just because they don't see it,there is no racism. Most Americans are not racist but many are naive to think that in such a short time span when that those owtwardly racist people can just dissappear into dust today. Not making the connection to Americas disengenuous behavior over the years to put teeth in legislature to combat the efforts of inequality.Relying instead to pretend books like the "Bell Curve" to support your ideas of inferiority by design instead of by circumstances uniquely gearded toward Africans and African Americans. When there is no fabric of community and belonging to a place ,no connection or grounding its hard to gain footing when "man made" obstacles constantly are placed in front of you.It far better to ask yourself how could black people accomplish as much as they have in this country with so many odds against them.Koreans,Chineese, and Japaneese people are from the same stock and geographically have never really been invaded or controlled by and influx of culture or race from afar. This has given them time to become people of remarkable reserved strength, beauty and success.

I bring all this up to respond to your incorrect ,misleading, unknowledgeable accounts of histories of people that do not interest you against those you admire more (which that part is nothing wrong with)However to ignore the paths in which the other races and cultures throughout the world and selectively use your own information that more supports your view than whats factual is dishonest or naive at best.

Don't is on a distinguished road
I hate to contradict myself, but I don't and won't insult anyone. It shows a character of not having a conversation without disagreement. In other words, we can agree to disagree. In my rebuttal, I am a Chicagoan, Pill Hill is down the street from the hospital I was born in which was South Chicago Hospital, the birth certificate reads, mother age 26, father age 26, race black, live birth, both parents names, mother's maiden, occupation Physician, father occupation, physician therefore..there it is. Any fellow Chicagoans in the House...please verify. Summers were spent in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin at the old Playboy resort club, summer house in Benton Harbor Michigan and with other professionals blacks on the East Coast at the "Jack and Jill Club." Ate at the Old Millionaire Club and the Palmer House with parents, spent the holidays in line at Marshall Fields to sit under the Christmas tree...across was the English room. Parent's purchased all furniture from Colby's in Lincolnwood, Mother Shopped at I. Magin, Carson P. Scott, Charles A Stevens (this entailed having lunch as mother had her hair Coff), Baskins, Weiboldts, Bon W Taylor, her shoes can from Joseph's, we were Marshall Field children..sometimes we would go to Oakbrook because the taxes were cheaper or take the train to Milwaukee for the day to shop at Dayton/Fields, Evans or Saks is were both their furs came from. This is when Saks, Tiffany and Gucci were on the east side of N. Michigan Avenue, Neiman Marcus came around 1983 or 1984. There was a Mc Donalds where Tiffany is today as well as a Woolworth on N. Michigan Avenue. Oh I forgot, the Red Door pampered herself, too. Father was a Brook Brothers and Custom Shirt man, murphy shoes. From there it was Beverly Hills second neighborhood, Carson's had a restaurant in Evergreen Plaza then and the stores were Baskins, my shoes came from Buster Brown or my foot doctor on Wabash street across from Jewelers Row. Off to old Sears with my Winnie the Poh on State Street to pay a bill and get popcorn and maybe some Garret Mix Popcorn, too or maybe a day on the observation deck of the John Hancock or Sears Tower and I needed Fannie Mae Candy. The Jack and Jill Club still exist. Don't be fooled nor mistaken. Sister and brother attended Mendell High Schooll and St. Willowbroad all in Roseland..all catholic(Roseland was a melting pot and safe area then). As I grew up occassionally we ate in Hyde Park and would see The Jackson Children.. that's Jessie and Johnathan Jackson children at the Pancake House on 53rd Street, hang out at the point in Hyde Park and listen to House Music. As teenagers our highschools gave private parties such as places like Sauer's, Hotel InterCon, The old Mc Cormick Place Black Glass Tower Building, etc. Oh I forgot, sometimes at Rockerfeller Chapel or Northwest University might give a play.. did I say play? Yes, saw Annie and the Wiz as a Child and other plays, too. with the Wiz..we were to believe in ourselves as Beautiful Lena Horne, sung. Forgot the music...I'm Black and I'm proud (James Brown) and the songs to be young gifted and Black. Oh, my sister attended modern dance and my brother and I played piano (Steinway..by the way) at Mayfair Academy on 79th Street, straight down 79th right on Stony Island and home in 8 minutes, 10 max. Forgot, parents' had associates in Wilmette and Glencoe so afternoons were spent there on Saturdays..no offense but I played with and are still friends with my childhood Jewish friends on the Northshore.. Oh I forgot, I attened Amaila Black and went to Walt Disney School on the Northside..Magnet School Back to the Southside were I played with Children in our neighborhood, too. One Black family owned and still owns a Famous Funeral Home Company that lived in my community as well as a famous Black actress who married a Turkish President and her father owned a night club/motel on 93 Stony Island. I forgot... Went to Santa Village and Funtown was on 95th and Stony Island Avenue...Fun Town. Maybe a weekend trip to St. Louis to Six flags..It opened we were there. Books, EnC's were in the house as well as many others. I enjoyed Edgar Allen Poe as well as Ice B Slim. You must see the Edgar Allen Poe House in Baltimore..don't be scared because it's in public housing area but you have to call in advance to see it. Always live on a Hill from Chicago to Atlanta to D.C. To Pinnacle Peak in AZ. Have friends from all walks of like and social and income brackets, no need to lie..just hate the division of my birth home (are you a Chicagoan, first of all???) and the stereotype of what Black men and woman are about...Guess what? Most of these things were free like the musuems and parks on free day. My experience of Atlanta wa that mostly all People of Color live in/around Cascade Road...not Buckhead, etc. Do know you age group, but I was there when Halle Berry and David Justice were married before the phonies came. Loved Dante Down the Hatch Restaurant and the Jazz is Jive Man....Peace.

Yes im aware of all the places and things you bring up.However with all your education and pedigree you have the audacity to sound like a backwater redneck racist by making these statements:
Quote:
The stereotypes about us are true for instance we all steal, are on drugs, depreciate property values, etc..it's o.k, it's America either you love it or hate it
What? There are countless neighboorhoods in America and Atlanta as well where property values do not decrease because of blacks.I grew up in a few of them.Any minority group in the world has higher numbers of percentage in crime ,lower test scores and problems with assimilation.I agree that countries like England and Holland handle these issues on the surface today better. However must we forget that America was never a colonializing power where the effects on Africa and India are still evident today.RAcism in Europe is intensifying becuse the wealth is begining to shift. When that happens anywhere in the world it creates tension in minority community from the majority. Its easy to bash your own country, move to a new one without being a part of the fabric from the begining of your life in that country.African and Carribean immigrants do better in education than American born blacks because of this very reason. Many come from less and can see opportunity where many blacks see just pain and suffering. However this still is by far not the majoirity of African-AMericans.Most are not poor, uneducated or criminals.

Quote:
Of the Jamaican-born respondents, 95 per cent said they believed racism existed in England, while 96 per cent of the English-born respondents said they believed there was widespread racism
.reports a Jamaican Newspaper in England.

Soccer matches where insults against players of African decent are yelled at with slurs about monkeys?I love Europe and for the most part they seem to be more open, but they tend to ignore things in thier own backyard and look for fault in America which historically has been more controversial.Soon it is within reach that the majority of voters will be white voters who will elect a black man for President because they believe in action that he is equal to any other men with the same credentials to become leader of the most power country on Earth. Not just lipservice. You talk about the fact that Chicago was named after a black man, true, but no major streets named after him(also true). What about London? Are there any streets or places named after Olaudah Equiano?

You find it strangely EASY to look past all those flaws of European society to attack the country where your family acheived the wealth and status that in even most of Europe anyone of any color on the average can achieve.

Quote:
Other nationalities are told not to Trust Black Americans upon coming to America, even Africans and they usually don't live in our Black Communities in America ( In Chicago all the Africans and other nationalities live in The North or Northwest suburbs of Chicago)
If people are stupid enough to believe those things about African Americans (especially other Africans)they should only look at their own countries and see how they have been demonized over the years by stereotypes.I never understood that kind of behavior. This is ignorance and stupid behavior and they that dive in such ignorance should be embarrased themselves.Been to Lago's lately?

You tend to put more importance on the wealth of your upbringing and the fact that your mother was in Jack and Jill and im sure your father was in the Boule'.Over and over you mention that you are different than the regular "black folk".As if you have something to prove. If people cannot accept you for what you are without money then thay are not worthy of your approval.I will not life my for other people to feel more comfortable around me.
