Default traffic congestion : highland Park to Libertyville Road 41

Hello,

My husband will work at Libertyville. He went last week end in Highland park (HP) to see how is the traffic from HP to Libertyville with the road 41: he needs 25 mn.
But someone at his office tell him he needs much more time during the week and in winter. Is it thrue?

Best regards

I'm not american, sorry for my bad English.

Yes. 176 will likely be stopped dead in rush hour. It's a huge bottleneck of two lane road, with tons of traffic lights and rail crossings. Count on at least 50% more than the 25-minute figure. By the way where is he working in Libertyville? I mean what company?

Thanks,
So Highland park is not a good choice for us. Sorry but I can't tell you on the bord the name of his company.
We need to find a city close to Libertyville in a good area , many thinks to do with kids and not to small. If someone know I take it.
We have 3.000 USD/ month to rent a house.

Libertyville itself would be a good place to start your search. Other nearby areas that you may want to check out may include Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, and maybe Gurnee.

Actually Highland Park to Libertyville really isn't a terrible commute considering that a lot of people my age somehow endure a reverse commute all the way from Chicago city neighborhoods to suburbs such as the one I work in (Buffalo Grove), and the other surrounding suburbs. But like someone else pointed out, it could depend on the weather and the time that your husband would be commuting.

Well, right -- having a 35-40 minute commute would be a dream for me. But this girl said that's probably too much.

Consider the psychological aspect also: a 35-40 minute commute on open highway (or even better, on the train) is going to be far less aggravating then sitting in a single-file line of cars a mile long, trying to get through the light at 176 & Milwaukee, which is green for 176 for maybe 15 seconds tops.
