Default Commute: Forest Park to Tinley Park

I'm fairly new in town and need some commuting advice. I have to commute from my Forest Park home to a one-day conference in Tinley Park. Google maps says take Harlem all the way. Is there a better way? How jammed are the highways in that direction in the morning? Ike to the Tri-state? Stevenson to Tri-state?

Harlem is the way to go down there. ... In the afternoon coming back, take Harlem up to 95th, get on the Tri-State northbound to the Stevenson inbound to First Avenue northbound. Take First Ave. to 31st, turn right and go over to Des Plaines Ave and turn left. Des Plaines into FP.

Here's your answer:

Take Des Plaines south to 31st, go west a short distance to 1st Avenue, go south to 55th, go west on 55th three miles to LaGrange, go south through Orland Park to Tinley Park.

Harlem Sucks. There is no other way....
