aka,
I would try to find a place in Arlington Heights, Mt. Prospect or Prospect heights that attends elementary district(s) 25, 57 or 23. IMO, they are a cut above Dist 59.
Rolling Meadows is a decent high school. Prospect, Buffalo Grove and Hersey are ranked higher. The homes in your area are nice, but along Algonquin Rd east of Arlington Hts. road are many apartment complexes. Some of them are not so great. Have you really explored your potential neighborhood thouroughly? I mean going for drives in 2 miles of each direction to see what the nearby neighborhoods are like?

This can be overcome by getting involved in the schools and community service, what you do versus what you own or not. As an aside, most people do not own their own homes. The lender does.

HAHA! I will look at it from that perspective Thanks!

Unfortuantly, due to time constraints we did not have the time to do that. Fortunatly, we did settle in Glen Ellyn and so far I have found it to exceed my expectations. We did take notice of the many apartment complexes surronding the AH neighborhood and coupled with some of the schooling scores in comparison, and decided to make the school choice a priority for the time being.

Thanks!
