On-street parking regs in Chgo subs
I was wondering what the normal parking regulations in some of the Chicago suburbs are like insofar as street cleaning is concerned. For instance, I have been told that in Cicero, during the summer months, one day per week is reserved for cleaning one side of a side street, and another day for the opposite side, meaning you cannot park during the day on those sides. In Berwyn, the same rule applies, but it is for the entire year, not just summer months. What about your suburb? And what about overnight and nonresident parking? I am looking for somewhere to move, but don't want to end up facing some crazy parking restrictions like I have heard exist in some places. Maybe you could add a post for your suburb showing:
City Name:
Street cleaning rules:
Overnight rules:
Nonresident rules:
If nothing special exists for one of those situations, just say 'none.'
Thanks!

I know that in Oak Park they don't allow parking on the street overnight at all.

Not exactly true. Although overnight on-street parking is banned in most parts of town, there are several areas of town with limited street parking if you purchase a parking permit. These streets tend to be in the parts of town with large apartment/condo complexes.
For what its worth, there is currently discussion by the village board over whether or not the parking restrictions should be altered/abolished.

I used to live in OP. If they do anything, they will make it worse and it will cost you some money. One of the reasons I left OP. The village board doesn't know how to do anything without raising taxes, fees, and making it more complicated.
What about street sweeping parking regs in the other burbs?

sukwoo - I wondered about what the people who lived in apartments did. Thanks for clarifying.

Parking depends on what suburb you are in. I grew up in Elmwood Park and they allowed overnight parking almost everywhere.
I have lived in Elmhurst, Glendale Heights and now Wheaton. My mom and dad live in Glen Ellyn. These don't allow overnight parking in most places. In the summer, they have street sweeping laws like you stated in your post. In the winter you are not allowed to park on the streets period until they are plowed. From others I have talked to it is pretty much universal about the overnight parking in most suburbs.
You also need to be careful about anything with truck plates, like pick-up trucks. Most suburbs don't want these parked on the streets overnight anywhere that it is allowed. If you don't have a driveway or garage you can't own a pick-up.

In Itasca, we also have the parking ban from 2am til 6am .... but if for some reason, like getting your driveway sealed or a new drive... you can contact the police dept to let them know -- and that's no problem, it just can't be long term.
as for snow removal or street cleaning ... i have not heard of any regulations regarding that... the trucks just go around you.

Weird ones:
If I remember correctly - in Cicero, trucks were not allowed on boulevards or something weird like that. And pickup trucks had to have a yellow light installed on the drivers side door pillar...
And there are also no trucks with truck plates allowed on lake shore drive in Chicago. Although a huge SUV with car plates is perfectly fine...

No Street Cleaning Rules
No Parking on any village street before 8AM and after 9PM I believe
Non-Residents must receive special permit from resident to park on street in front of home.
Party Parking Permits are available. Some subdivisions require you to park along the major road.
