There is no suburb called westmoreland in the Chicago area. Good luck anyway.

regardless where your parents live, you can always call local vets and see if they have boarding services. or maybe call the vet they use.

Can you watch the cat for your parents? Have them bring the cat to your place while they're gone.
Or, if they are only gone for 2-3 days, they can leave the cat by itsself. They can purchase a battery operated feeder. It feeds the cat on a timer. They can leave extra water. The cat will be just fine.
Cats are not like dogs. They can be left alone for a few days, if planned properly, and they will be OK.
Or maybe half-way during the trip you go up and visit the cat, share some affection and clean it's box.

Any local vet will board cats while the owners are away. I also agree with the suggestion of a "mechanical feeder" . There are some the plug in and keep the food cool and opens a new dish each day. I have seen some that have 5 dishes so the cats can have fresh "wet" food for 5 days and just keep a big bowl of hard food out on the side if they need more to eat.
I think my vet charges $12-15 a day for cat boarding. I have a very large dog and she cost $25 a day which includes several walks and park play time.
Another suggestion would be to have a responsible neighbor come over once a day. They could take in the mail/paper and feed the cat(s). Of course this would be someone they know and trust but I always have a neighbor person take care of my cat when we are gone.

You could also look into hiring a pet sitter. That's what we've done when we've had to be away more than a day or two. The person comes to your home and feeds and plays with your cats, if desired. Easier on the animals, in my experience, than a boarding/kennel service. Check this site for a reputable agency or sitter: National Association of Professional Pet Sitters.
We hired one for our two-week honeymoon and she also brought in the mail and turned lights off and on, etc.

cat-sitter is a better option than boarding.
