None taken. This photo is not of Joliets citizens, it is of tourists from Indiana at the Nascar race this last July. It says it below the picture.
And as far as Harrahs, I do not know what you are talking about. No offence!

Good for Joliet. But I still prefer Naperville by a million miles.

So many places, so little time.
Joliet is OK, Naperville is nice. Many other suburbs ranging from OK to nice to Outstanding in the Metro area. Its part of the fabric that makes the area desirable and keeps the population growing.

I am so happy to see all that has been happening in Joliet. I have cousins who were born and raised there and live in the Cathedral District. It is a charming area very close to the University of St. Francis. Their home is more than 100 years old, absolutely charming - a real showplace!
Downtown Joliet is experiencing a real re-birth, Joliet Central High School is breathtaking. The building has been restored and has a new field house addition in the same architectural style as the original building. Very impressive.
We met to a concert on the river over the summer and it was an absolutely delightful evening. Lots of young couples and little kids. I really love the diversity in Joliet. I also need "to plug" Truth, our favorite restaurant there. Excellent atmosphere and wonderful food!

I live in Romeoville, right next to Joliet. Let me just say that I would not want to raise kids in either city.

Longtime residents of Joliet have very strong feelings regarding all of the positive progress that has recently been made. My cousins' children are products of the public school system, one is in residency at Johns Hopkins and the other is in graduate school at Northwestern. They have enjoyed living in a diverse environment and their children have thrived.

I agree! Joliet has been an excellent experience for my wife and I, since we have moved here from Batavia, Il in 2007. I also live in the "Cathedral of St Raymonds". My wife and I are so happy with our decision to move here. The "cathedral" Is an amazing neighborhood. You do not see many well kept Historical ares like this one. Most of them are very run down(Aurora). For the price, and neighborhood, this has been a blessing. People have complained about the schools, but every school that we have come across, it has been completely renovated with new additions . If public schools do not work for you, there is St Rays, St Marys, St Pats, for K-8 and Joliet Catholic for high school.(Go Hiltopers) This City may have had its bad times, but from what we can see things are going pretty good. From all of the current competed projects to the future ones, Joliet has a very bright future. We are proud to be from Batavia, but we are delighted to citizens of Joliet.

I don't know if it is because I am from Kentucky, but the areas out here just seem boring and dull, scenery wise. As far as the cities go, diversity isn't always a great thing. There is a lot of diversity in Joliet, but also a lot of crime and the crime index in Joliet is higher than average. Close to about 10 or so murders a year in Joliet, plenty of robberies, rapes, arsons, etc.
There are a lot of job openings for cops in Joliet, and I have always wanted to be a cop. I would probably have an easier time getting into the Joliet department, however that would require that I move to Joliet and I really can't imagine myself living there, or being a cop there. There would definitely be a lot of action for me to go attend to, but that isn't always a positive thing.
