Giordano's does not, which is why I can't stand their stuffed pizza. To reduce pizza to simply "pepperoni, cheese, tomato sauce and crust" is to believe that the way those ingredients are made and the way they are assembled makes no difference -- that there is no difference between Rosati's and Domino's.

I completely agree!

Very true.
The freshness of the ingredients makes a huge difference as well. Domino's and most other similar national chains do not use fresh ingredients. They use highly processed ingredients with a crap load of preservatives and fillers. To coin a phrase :there is a reason those pizza places are cheap.

My buddy's dad co-owns the Piece Brewery and Pizzeria on 1927 W. North Ave. That has some pretty good versions of NY style 'za for sure.

You won't find it. It does not exist in Chicago. Searching for it in Chicago is an excersise in futility. You will wind up like Principal Skinner from the Simpsons searching for the right spices in the broth he was served at the P.O.W. camp; you'll go mad!

Drover -- can i ask what is "New Haven-style" ?

personally, my preference is 'cracker thin" crispy crust.

If i want bread... i'll have a sandwich.

but i do understand everyone has their own preferences, and are not happy with what is available in other cities.

I still have not found the perfect pizza in Wisconsin [dells area]
or a good steak for that matter.
