What would I need to do to in order to get from Hoffman Estates to Chicago and back using public transportation? Is this commute even possible?

Thanks,
Brad

It depends on where in Hoffman Estates you're starting from. You can get to almost anywhere in Chicago on a bus or the el. This website will tell you if it's possible and which trains and buses to take: http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/

Take a look at this site - http://metrarail.com/Sched/md_w/md_w.shtml#STATION

There's a train station in the nearby Schaumburg on Metra(commuter trains that serve the suburbs)'s Milwakee District West line. This train will get you to Union Station in downtown.

It's really ben a while since I used it, so can't say for sure, but there used to be a Pace(suburban bus transit) bus that passed through a part of Hoffman Estates on the way to Schaumburg station. Try looking at pacebus.com
