Default Streamwood vs Elk Grove info please

I apologize for posting this thread again but I am in the final phase of buying home and shortlisted two.
One is in Schaumburg but School District is Streawood. Can anyone please provide me some information about Streamwood library and school district?

Another one is in Elk Grove- Please help me with information about Elk Grove and School district.

Thanks so much.

Schools in Streamwood are in district U46, which is one of the largest districts in the state and has had budget problems in the past. Its schools in Bartlett and Carol Stream are decent but I wouldn't send my kids to any other schools in that district and I know people who moved into better school districts when their kids reached school age. The schools in Elk Grove are better. The library in Streamwood is the Poplar Creek Library (http://www.poplarcreek.lib.il.us/) but if you're living in Schaumburg you'll probably use the library there, which is much bigger (http://www.stdl.org/) (broken link). Personally I think Elk Grove is the better place to live. They have an excellent park district with a water park, a children's theme park, an indoor skate park, and a community center with a pool and a working carousel. The carousel room can be rented for parties and such - I had my wedding reception there. Elk Grove also has Alexian Brothers Medical Center (one of the best rehab hospitals in the U.S.) and a huge forest preserve.

Thanks so much for the reply. Do you believe Elk Grove village will not get affected with O'Hare expansion?

It will, certainly, but to what extent remains to be seen. The commercial/industrial section of Elk Grove next to the airport is a large portion of the village's tax base. If most of those businesses are forced to relocate, then yes, Elk Grove is going to have serious budget problems. But I've read that as much as a third of those businesses could relocate without making a big impact on the tax base. So I don't think it will be as bad as some people are predicting, but then again the governor basically gave O'Hare free reign to take as much land as they please, so who knows.
