I'm looking for hotels near OHare, and I am wondering what the Franklin Park area is like. Safe? We will not be hanging out there, mainly just sleeping, but I want to make sure it's an okay area. Also, what other areas close to OHare (within 5 miles) are okay to stay in? If there is nothing, we may stay elsewhere. Thanks!

I would avoid the franklin park motels. Some of them used to (and may still do) have "hourly rates" if you catch my drift. I've driven by them at night and don't think it's real safe.

If you need to be right by ohare, stick with the rosemont hotels.

It's very unlikely that something will actually happen to you there. Nevertheless kep in mind that mdz just gave you a valuable fair warning.

Rosemont's extensive hospitality business lives off O'hare and offers many quiality options for most budgets. There's also Des Plaines. If all that doesn't work for you, perhaps try looking a some cheaper places in Schiller Park and look at Franklin Park only as your last resort.

We are actually looking for fairly cheap hotels between O'Hare and the city. We will have a car, but not much time, so something in the middle would be wonderful.
