Hi there... I am new to this. My girlfriend is wanting me to research the Chicagoland area for her. She is an irish catholic and her soon to be husband is a lovely nigerian man. They are wanting to reside in the suburbs. Where will they be happy and at peace without the racists coming to there door? Any suggestions? Please help.

Evanston or Skokie on the north side. Or Oak Park on the west. All are bordering the city and within an easy commute to downtown by public transit. Safe and quiet(with the exception of certain spots in east-northeast Oak Park) and nobody should bother you there because of race.

Further out northwest you can also try Schaumburg, Wheeling or Buffalo Grove. Although there's not much diversity there, don't expect to be bothered by anyone there either.

Bolingbrook has been multidemonational since it's incorporation.
No matter what color or job your husband may have...he will fit in.
Allthought the areas mentioned Oak Park and others have mixtures....the mixed marriage is another issue.
You want to be welcome where-ever you go.

Oak Park and Evanston don't hold the gold key to the you-know-what on racial tolerance, despite popular opinion. There are several areas you could live in and not be bothered. Where in Chicagoland do they want to live geographically? Where are they going to be working/going to school?
