Default Crest Hill Area????

Hello-

I was hoping somebody on here can give me there thoughts on Crest Hill. I am from the south side, born and raised I am some what familar with the area but I am a little unsure of it. I know Crest Hill is right next to Joliet but we are looking at houses in the area. They are affordable and the neighboorhood seems okay but the more research I do the more leary I am as the crime rate seems to be a little high there. It is just my fiance and I, no kids so schools are not that important yet. Anyway if anybody has some thoughts on the area I would appreciate hearing them.

I live in the Crest Hill area, the South Richland Subdivision. We have recently taken controll of our neighborhood and are going to be having a block party so everyone can meet their neighbors. It is a great area, real peaceful and has alot of nice people there. Hope you find a nice place.

Crest Hill isn't dangerous, in my opinion. There are some nicer and not-so-nice places to live, but most of the people are friendly and helpful.

I never would have thought Crest Hill to be dangerous. From my experience growing up there, I know there are parts that are nicer looking and better maintained than others. Overall, I think it's an affordable place to find a home. The location is convenient and it's close to shopping.

Where did you find this information about crime? Like DianaC, I've never Viewed Crest Hill as dangerous. I would say the downside of Crest Hill is that there is not much to do. Then again, it's bordered by Joliet and the Romeoville/Bolingbrook area which can easily keep you occupied. There are areas that are not the best looking but the town is fine. The newer areas of Crest Hill look totally different than the old. The newer areas are in northern Crest Hill where there's a lot of undeveloped land.
