Itasca
What is the future for Itasca? Will it improve or get worse? I am thinking of making a move there in the near future. Any personal experiences of the town?

this town will certainly improve, not get worse. I have been here since the late 60s and it's only gotten better.
any idea what part of town you are looking at?
IT really is a great little town.

I like certain aspects of Itasca, but like many places that do not have distinct draw it is prospects for improvement are not that strong. Don't get me wrong, it is convenient to some pretty decent employment and won't "get worse" in any significant way compared to similar town, but it is not going to outpace appreciation (...or be more resistant to declines) compared to any of it neighbors. You could do a lot worse.

Itasca is a decent place. Not horrible, not spectacular either.

I used to live in Itasca and my family went to church there and kept contacts there for a decade after we moved. The town is fine for now, but there's a chance that some of the "inner suburb" decline that is slowly creeping outward will eventually reach Itasca. Not tomorrow, probably not even 10 years from now. But maybe some day. For now my major gripe with Itasca is that there's really nothing special about it. It's just a suburb with a bunch of houses; no real focus, no central business district to speak of, etc. The kind of place where you come home from work and just sort of do your thing until you get up and start again the next day, and if you want to do anything interesting, you go somewhere else to do it.

Walnut is very nice.... North is older smaller homes, but more historic district
south is more tri-levels - homes probably built in the late 70's - early 80's.
I used to live on [north] Walnut as a kid. 400 block... it's a parking lot for the church now.
North Walnut does get a bit more traffic though - rush hour times. especially after the trains arrive... that corner of Division and Walnut, that - heading east, will turn into Arlington Hts road... so there is a bit more commuter traffic.
If it's 300 south... that traffic will not effect you at all.

Itasca
Itasca is a nice little town. No, I don't think it's going to go down hill any time in the near future. As for things to do, jobs, etc. all you have to do is head up to Schaumburg, which is just a little north. I haven't lived in the area for 15 years, but I still miss it. Even the winters!!!! I don't know if this is still the way it is, but Elk Grove Village used to be a place to look for a job.

I"n not sure what it is about this lil town... it sorta 'gets in your blood'.
I know many families, where generations of them still live here. The kids i grew up with are raising their families, etc.
Some may think there is "nothing special about it" -- but those of us who live here, and make it our home... we dont see it that way.
