I'm not trying to pick a fight, just a bit astounded at your anger over nothing. That's what makes no sense. It's hard to argue with people who come in with their OWN agenda such as you, get angry at people posting their opinions for no reason whatsoever, and babbling about "construct me into a Chinese homosexual woman". I've only been to Chicago a few times, nothing ever impressed me about the city, the area, or the state. Chicago is quite possibly the most corrupt city in the entire United States, and Crook County, Illinois is one of the worst counties (in terms of corruption) in the nation.

My suggestion is that anybody who wants to live in a conservative area, exclude Illinois from their list. A state that doesn't even recognize the most basic right of personal self-defense, can scarcely be considered conservative.

If the OP absolutely has to be in the area due to a job or family concerns, I suggest he live in Indiana and commute.

I also take offense to your point about people saying gender is a social construct. It might behoove you to learn the difference between gender and sex. Gender, by its very definition, is a social construct. Sex is about what plumbing you've got.

There are conservatives in Illinois. Lots of 'em. And I smell some political victories for them in the coming years due to the sad state of Illinois Democrats. The Republican party was down because of George Ryan and the Alan Keyes debacle, but if they were smart they'd rebuild the party in Illinois as a foil to the corrupt machine politics. Blago-gate and Burris-gate are nothing but a golden opportunities for Illinois Republicans--if they play their cards right.

Illinois doesn't allow concealed carry in any fashion, by citizens.

Illinois also requires a FOID card and makes people jump through hoops to buy and maintain firearms.

Illinois state law is also VERY restrictive about self-defense.

Disregarding the Constitution doesn't necessarily entail a blanket ban. A right heavily regulated and greatly infringed is just as disrespected as a right that is totally abridged.

I only use the term gender (which I deny has and validity, the proper term is sex), because many modern commentators use it to the point that people are used to hearing it. Sex is a reality, gender is just some muddled notion invented by sociologists and "intellectuals" who believe that whether or not you are male or female is a matter of social constructs rather than biological facts.

I think it's safe to assume that nothing you say will be new to anyone and that no one, including you, is going to change their mind about any of these topics based on this type of discussion.
