I did get a bit off-topic here and there... But when I was on-topic my point was well made. The OP wants a conservative area, a nice quiet place to live... I contend he won't find that in Crook County, or anywhere in Illinois, specifically around Chicago. If his main concern is simply being within 45 minutes of Chicago without having to be in Chicago, he can find a number of places in Indiana that will meet his needs.

You throw the race card around more than Jesse,Al, and Meeks. Is that all you do good liberals can do to defend when you become defenseless. Stop crying racism and man up!

I don't ever "throw the race card around". I'm not even that liberal. I'm pretty center-of-the road, leaning left. I did vote for Obama in the last election, but I've also voted for Peraica and Judy Baar Topinka out of disgust for Illinois' political machine. And my biggest political involvement in Chicago so far has been trying to get rid of my socialist, race-baiting Alderman. I'm just a person with friends and family from many different races, and I won't stand for a loser like you making blanket racist statements about people I care for. Any comment I've made about race on this forum is refuting something ignorant and/or inflamatory posted by someone else.

Perhaps the best thing that can be done is to simply ignore this person Ohio. If no one responds, he'll get bored and go away.

Getting back to which suburb is most conservative----I have a question. Is there an unspoken assumption here that suburbs which are conservative are exclusionary or racist? And what is meant by "conservative"? Socially conservative? Religiously conservative? Politically conservative?
About 5 to 7 years ago, the town of Hampshire, Il was considered one of the most conservative towns in the state.

That's probably the best idea. We can only hope.
I wouldn't think that being conservative means being racist. The conservatives I know not.
Conservative can mean all of those things you meantioned bungalow, but there are gay conservatives out there. I think a lot of people who are conservative are fiscally conservative first & foremost. (Well, in this forum, anyway)

I can name PLENTY of quiet, conservative places in IL, and several in Chicagoland. Concern yourself with Ohio, leave the IL talk to us natives.

I think I'd have to give my vote to Wheaton, then. And DuPage as a conservative county. I admire the way DuPage seems to hold things together fiscally. The county seems to serve the people well without throwing money around at social engineering programs or wasting precious taxpayer dollars on things like concrete planters or cobble streets. And county officials don't seem to act like big brother.
My sister lives in Lake County and she's said that the officials are not to be believed. When someone attempts to appeal for lower taxes, workers will do things like come to your home when you're not there and measure your deck on the back of your home to see how big it is. Coming from a city background, that sounds insane to me.
