If by "snickering" you mean "giving an honest assessment of the place instead of making it sound like it's just your average middle class suburb that gets a bad rap from meanies on the Chicago forums" then yes, that's what we'd rather do.

The air must be awfully thin up there, way up there on your high horse.

Not as thin as your answers to the OP's original question, which was "Which is better, Markham or Harvey?"

Between harvey and Markham, Markham is better. I already gave my reasons on the first page. Its not like you going to get robbed or shot as soon as you step in town. If you can survive in the city, you can with these two.

Default Markham vs Harvey

I would say that Harvey is worse than Markham. If this is for a police job, I would say to move to the opposite suburb (i.e. move to markham if working for Harvey P.D.). There is still an area of Markham that is not awful. Talk to the police department. Harvey is very dangerous. Not all of the crimes are reported because of fear of the gangs, so the crime rate is actually worse than what most people think.

This thread amounts to a thin excuse to bash two very unfortunate communities is what it does. Why these threads keep popping up, who knows I suppose they make us feel better but c'mon.

You'd better head further south like to Bourbbonais or Bradley or maybe even Watseka, where my husband works. Jobs are easier to get the further South you go, from what i perceive. Perhaps Markham or Harvey would have been a good pick twenty years ago, but not now. You are asking for a big headache.

Default Markham or Harvey? Racism???

Oh boy, well, I think we all learn and experience racial prejudices... we all have our character defects. After all these years (50+) living in Markham and moving away to Tinley Park (westward ho!) I look back on a fine little community in shambles.
The bottom line for us all I think is Markham and Harvey both are not places to look forward to moving!

Markham also has that big shopping plaza on Kedzie and 159th street.
