Question DuPage vs. Kane County... Pros/Cons

I'm looking to relocate to the Fox River Valley area and many of the towns and school districts there seem to straddle the Dupage/Kane County border. What (if any) are the pros and cons of living in either county vs. the other? Are there significant differences in taxes, traffic/roads, zoning, law enforcement, resale value of homes etc.?

Specifically I'm looking at Geneva and Batavia... any tips?

Thanks,

Ken

I must admit, I do not know a whole lot about those two counties, but I can at least give you the advice that I do know lol.

Kane county, for the most part, has cheaper taxes than Dupage. There are many areas of Dupage County that has traffic as bad as Chicago, but those tend to be bigger suburbs anyways such as Aurora and Naperville. Traffic seems to be less of a problem in Kane County. The nice thing about Kane/Dupage counties is that the resale value of homes are tremendous for the most part. Many parts of both counties are great to make a profit off of in terms of buying/selling. From what my friends tell me who either live close by to or live in one of the suburbs you mentioned, they said both Batavia and Geneva have a small town feeling to it, but you still have a good amount of shopping and restaraunts in them or very close by. Hope I was able to help

You cant go wrong with either county to be honest. Both have great qualities and great schools. In DuPage Id recommend Winfield, Warrenville, Wheaton, Wayne, Bartlett, Naperville, Lisle, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, etc.

Kane is more rural, but only in areas. Towns like Geneva and St. Charles have steady growth adn Randall Rd is just as congested as areas in DuPage. Prices are similar for houses in both counties, maybe a tid bit higher in DuPage. St. Charles and Geneva are great towns, but are known to be on the pricey side. St. Charles has some older homes that are still a bit pricey, but make prime rehab projects.
