moving to elmwood park (Chicago, Norridge: crime, catholic schools, live)

I am considering moving to this suburb, I like what I see on the surface but could really use some hard realistic views from folks who live there or know the area. Is crime an issue? How are the schools.

Where else on the northwest side is worth moving too?

Is crime an issue in Elmwood Park?

Just look the other way if you see a bunch of guys in suits toss a bag with concrete blocks off a bridge.

And make sure you don't accidentally hit a cadillac in the rear end, or you'll be a real life "Analyze this"

To the OP: Norridge is a lot nicer than Elmwood Park.

With your name on this post, I am assuming that you are Italian. If so, Elmwood park would be a fine choice as it is the #1 population for Italian Americans in Illinois. Crime is still low by state averages and the schools are decent. I have lived here for 31 years, my entire life. My wife and I are raising our 2 young boys here and are using the Catholic schools. The area, also bordered by the Northwest side of Chicago, which you were correct in reference to, has some of the best Italian delis, restaraunts, and stores in the city. Harlem Ave.-from North Ave. to Foster Ave. includes Elmwood Park, Norrridge, and the Northwest side of Chicago. Would love to have you as a future resident- we need more people like you. In regards to that dumba** from Houston, ignore his arrogant rants as he has nothing better to do but post on our threads- while offering no real aid to your question. Hope this helps- ask more questions and I will answer them if you feel the need to. Good luck on your findings!
