I don't think so (as long as you don't live in a condo or apartment building). I think this is pretty common.

Anything over 3 dogs is considered a herd in the Chicago area and requires a state agriculture license and the approval of a brand registration.

Thanks. No intention of getting any more. Found the newest in Walmart parking lot, just a puppy, well kids liked her and now her name is Lady.

Any restrictions on cats?

I agree - six dogs - OMG. Like I said, they better find a place with a lot so large that no one can hear, see or smell them. Hopefully they are small doggies. I feel sorry for their new neighbors.

I don't know, I'm not really a dog person but our neighbors have 4 dogs, 3 of which are large, and they aren't any trouble at all. The first couple weeks they barked at us when we pulled the car in the drive next to the fence, but now only bark if a stranger approaches. So many small dogs I've known are psycho barkers, I'd say 6 big outside dogs may be better than one tiny dog that barks all day long (like my friend's mini dachshound, god that animal is loud, lol!)

Best to call local village/city/county zoning office to check the local ordinances. I remember a while ago there was a story about a lady living in a Chicago suburb gotten into trouble with her village b/c she had 3 small dogs when the ordinance says 2 tops. So it's always a good idea to find out before you move.

Thanks. To be honest IMO, I dont think thet we should be dictated to on the amount of pets we have. If we pay the price for a home, why should we be told what we can and cannot have at that home - within reason of course. Just my own opinion.

Well, that "within reason" is often established by statute.

You might take a sunday drive down around Sandwich. There used to be a lot of open space in the area. If memory seves me right - which it rarely does these days, it isn't too far from the Eisehnower. I always liked the area.

I wish I could be more helpful.
