Default respite care for elderly mom

HI:

I was wondering if anyone knew about how to get Respite care for my 82 year old mom for when we go on vacation? My mom currently lives with me and is not currently on Medicaid ( another question). We take a trip to Wisconsin every year and she will not be going - but will need 24 hour care while we are gone. Does Medicare pay for any kind of help with this - or if she goes on Medicaid - do all of her assets have to be revealed - how exactly does that work? I appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks

STL Mom is on a distinguished road
Here's some information I found about Medicaid in Illinois:
Illinois Legal Aid | Senior Citizens Handbook - Medicaid
and the Community Care program:
Illinois Legal Aid | Senior Citizens Handbook - Community Care Program

I didn't see anything specific about respite care, but that's something you could ask about when or if your mom applies.
Your mom will need to reveal all her assets, and assets that she's given or transferred to other people in the last couple of years are also considered.

Here's a site with information about caregiver resources:
Illinois Department on Aging: Caregiver Resource Centers

Good luck!
