I'm wondering if anyone knows of any over-55 communities for active adults near Lombard. A relative in her early-60s will soon find herself alone after 40 years of marriage, and while she's not exactly young for her age, she's not ready for an old-folks home. We're thinking about trying to get her into a community that offers swimming, day trips, card games, and camaraderie among other similar folks. She will continue to work in Lombard, so a nearby location is a must.

Right now I think a rental is more realistic than a for-sale product, but if the for-sale product is inexpensive enough it may be an option. Thanks, all.

Well, the response to this thread has been underwhelming to say the least. So perhaps no such communities exist. Can I expand it a bit? Does anyone know of specific apartment buildings or complexes that would appeal to someone in this situation?

Sorry -- can't help ya on this one but i do recall seeing a commercial on TV about a SR development that was south... Lisle or something like that.

personally -- i;d do a google and see what pops up.

my MIL was upper 60's when she suddenly found herself 'alone'
and she basically got involved with the local park dist and SR groups.

she lives about 6 blocks from us and in a townhome ... she's been staying active the past 9 yrs this way.

good luck in your quest
